The benefits of the various asphalt paving solutions available in the market, as well as how to maintain your surface with sealcoating and crack sealer are matters Paveking is passionate about. As gurus of this trade, we always endeavor to partner with our clients to ensure their asphalt surfaces are always maintained well.
Unattended cracks can become much larger problems, turning into potholes or failed areas if time and weather permits them to. The most important maintenance step you can take for your parking lot is to have cracks filled and sealed as soon as possible.
All cracks will be filled with a hot applied rubberized joint sealant that meets SABITA specifications. This will provide a seal between the crack and the sub-base that will extend the life of your pavement. Paveking uses the industry’s highest quality crack fillers to repair cracks in asphalt and seal cracks so they are watertight. Not only does this keep water out and stops the freezing and thawing cycle, but it also keeps dirt, sand, and vegetation in the crack, and not out on your parking lot.
If you want to get the most service life from your pavement, crack seal early and often! This is because:
Pavement cracking is inevitable – it is going to happen
Sealing cracks quickly after they develop reduces the damage to the pavement
The longer the cracks remains sealed, the longer the pavement will perform
Visually inspect pavements every year to identify and seal new cracks. Cracks greater than 1/8” (3 mm) must be sealed to achieve the best protection of the pavement.
Visually inspect previously sealed cracks every year to identify failures and repair as needed. If annual inspection is not possible, previously sealed cracks should be assessed every 3 years, the time it potentially takes for a crack to turn into a pothole.
